Jeff Fabiszewski and Sean Fitzgibbon come from two different worlds. Even with their comical differences they joined forces in April of 2001 at Osprey Bay Outdoors with one goal; to combine their skills and knowledge with other people in the paddling community to help make the water more accessible to everyone. Since 2001 Jeff and Sean have completed several expeditions, been guest presenters/coaches at the Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival, Sweetwater Kayak Symposium, Charleston East Coast Paddlesport and Outdoor Festival, Sol y Luna Kayak Fishing School, and Pinellas county schools “teach in”. They have enjoyed the waters from Orrs’ Island Maine to Key West to Molokai Channel in Hawaii and beyond. Fun is their motto and their belief is that a day on the water is the way to happiness.
Jeff Fabiszewski is a logical person. He is a Wilderness First Responder, an American Canoe Association L-3 certified kayak instructor, British Canoe Union L-1 certified coach and three star paddler, Greenland certified style paddler and BSA merit badge counselor. He has been a guest coach for H2Outfitters in Orr’s Island Maine and Sweetwater Kayaks. Jeff’s unique knowledge and passion has opened doors for him to aid in getting recovering wounded veterans out on the water by volunteering with Team River Runner, Wounded Warrior Project, and Extremity Games. He has also trained some of the Florida Ocean Kayak Fishing team on improving their paddling techniques. Beyond coaching, you can find some of Jeff’s writings on kayaking and camping in four different outdoor magazines. However, his real claim to fame is his cooking and unique outdoor abilities that he learned when he became an Eagle Scout. Now, Jeff is no stuffed shirt under that calm exterior is a deep wit and a creative mind that makes learning effortless; and this is most evident when he and Sean work in tandem.
Sean Fitzgibbon is the comedian. During the day, Sean practices at St Petersburg Limb & Brace as a Licensed Orthotic Fitter/ Prosthetic Assistant & Pedorthist. He designs, fabricates, and fits orthotic and prosthetic devices to help his patients regain/maintain an active lifestyle, along the way giving them support and encouragement. His real identity is that of a waterman. Sean’s journey in life started with sailing and then discovered surfing. He excelled in surfing, eventually turning pro and taking many East Coast and National Championships. His local waters became the east and west coasts of the U.S and in Hawaii in during his nine years of professional surfing. He remembers when stand up paddle boarding began and is an excellent coach in discovering what an SUP can do. On land, Sean has discovered how camping is more than primitive; camping is comfort with the best foods and views a person can dream. Sean has worked beside many respected coaches/instructors in the U.S. and is continually striving to become a better paddler to spread his love of the paddling lifestyle and all things in nature.
