The best Christmas gift for a paddler is not necessarily another large piece of equipment. It may be instruction, a useful addition to the camp kitchen, or a small reminder of a place they love. I would rather choose a few things with a purpose than fill a stocking with objects that never leave the house.
Product pages checked October 31, 2026. Manufacturer listings establish the current model, not guaranteed local stock or Christmas delivery. Confirm price, availability, and suitability before ordering.
For the learner: a kayaking lesson
A lesson makes sense when the recipient wants to learn. Our current options are $69 per student for a 2 hour group class, $95 per student for a 2 hour specialty workshop, and $195 for one student’s 3 hour private lesson. Read how to arrange a kayaking lesson as a Christmas gift. Contact me before treating a date or place as reserved.
For a small present: the Christmas Spider sticker

This is merchandise I sell: a stylized spinybacked orbweaver, an orange paddle, and the Liquid Rhythm Kayaking name. It gives the Christmas stocking a little Florida character without pretending we live in a snow globe. See the sticker and ask about pricing and ordering.
For a simple camp kitchen: Trangia Mess Tin Small 210
The Small 210 is a compact aluminum cooking and storage tin. It belongs on the list for someone who enjoys preparing a modest meal with simple equipment. Check the size against what they actually cook; a compact tin is not a group supper pot.
Trangia’s current Small 210 product page listed the black handle model as out of stock when checked. Ask a retailer about the exact model rather than assuming stock or substituting a different size. A compatible stove and careful cooking matter more than the wrapping paper.
For the camp coffee drinker: Snow Peak Titanium French Press
I use several ways to make coffee outdoors, including a Snow Peak titanium press. A press suits the person who enjoys the brewing ritual and has room for it in the kit. It is less useful for someone who already prefers a simple filter and does not want another pot.
Snow Peak’s current Titanium French Press, CS 111 had an ordering option when checked. Confirm current stock and shipping before purchase. Pack out the used grounds.
For the experienced stove user: MSR DragonFly
My DragonFly has a long place in my cooking kit. Its flame control is one reason I value it, but a liquid fuel stove is a gift to choose with the recipient. They need to want that system and understand its setup, fuel, and maintenance.
MSR’s current DragonFly page showed an out of stock notice when checked. Do not count on direct Christmas delivery. Confirm exactly what is included and what the user already owns. Read my DragonFly experience and operating limits before deciding.
For someone who already has enough gear: cook together
Bring the ingredients for Christmas camp apples with cranberries and ginger, offer to wash the dishes, and leave time for conversation. No new stove is necessary if a suitable one is already in the kit.
For clothing, safety equipment, paddles, and boats, involve the recipient. Fit and suitability matter more than a clever surprise. The aim is to help somebody enjoy their time outside, not to give them another item to exchange.
