A kayaking lesson is a Christmas gift that leaves room for the person receiving it. Rather than guessing at a paddle length or another piece of equipment, you can help someone spend time learning boat control, practical skills, and sound judgment on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
I teach in the Tampa Bay and Pinellas County area. Start with a conversation so we can match the lesson to the person, their comfort with water, and what they hope to learn.

See the current classes and full preparation details. Available instructional equipment is included in the class price, subject to fit, availability, and suitability.
How to arrange a lesson as a gift
1. Email Jeff with a gift inquiry. Tell me your budget, the recipient’s paddling experience, and whether you have a particular date in mind. No surprise needs to include someone else’s private medical information.
2. We will discuss the appropriate class, available dates, equipment, and how the recipient will join the scheduling conversation. A rolling workshop and a first paddling lesson are different gifts.
3. Confirm the arrangements before presenting the gift as a booked lesson. Ask about payer arrangements, cancellation terms, and any printed confirmation you want to give. An inquiry does not reserve a place.
Payment and scheduling
The current class policy is payment on the day of instruction by cash or Zelle. Tell me if you intend to pay for someone else so we can confirm how that will work. This page does not sell prepaid certificates or promise credit valid for a particular period.
If bad weather prevents a class, we will reschedule. Meeting location, equipment fit, and conditions are confirmed for the lesson. Do not assume instruction will take place on Christmas Day.
A gift for a willing learner
Ask whether the person wants to learn, even if you keep the rest of the present a surprise. Students with questions about accessibility, age, confidence, or equipment are welcome to discuss them before scheduling. Not every class suits every person.

There is satisfaction in giving something a person can carry into their next launch. A useful skill takes up very little room under the tree.
