My paddling friends all know that I am useless without my glasses. I do not wear contacts; consequently, it is a struggle to find quality sunglasses that work on the water and in my prescription.

My local optometrist at The Optical Factory contacted Bollé. Talk about customer service. In a time when people are stressing out about money, these two companies have the clear focus on how to help people. I now am the proud owner of a pair of Bollé Sunglasses. I am wearing the Rattler style sunglasses from the Sport Collection. The orange textile frame color looks great on the water. In addition, the optics of the polarized TNS lenses is perfect for cutting through glare off the water.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT …UV SAFETY
Cataracts and macular degeneration are eye conditions that can lead to blindness. Recent studies have shown that prolonged exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays without protection may cause serious eye conditions that can lead to vision loss and blindness.
Wear sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of UV-A and UV-B rays. Buying a good pair of sunglasses is not enough. You must remember to wear them whenever you’re outside. Don’t be fooled by a cloudy day. The sun’s rays can still burn through the haze and thin clouds.
Kayakers should try to stay off the water between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., when the sun’s ultraviolet rays are the strongest, because we play on a giant UV reflective surface.
Thank you Optical Factory and Bollé for helping me find a pair of sunglasses that functions as well as they look.
